Sudan Government on Tuesday said it would partner with Bauchi State Government in the areas of education and health for quality assurance.

Dr Tajelsi Mahqoub, the Republic of Sudan’s Ambassador to Nigeria, announced this when he visited Gov. Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State at the Government House, Bauchi.

He said that he was in Bauchi to see how his country could partner with the state government to improve the quality of education and health care service delivery.

“Over the years, Sudan was able to improve the standard and quality of education system delivery where everything is built around quality.

“We could produce quality students through quality staffing and quality curriculum in a quality school environment. We can support Bauchi State in this area.

“We want to also support the state to improve the health sector, with a view to building a healthy population that would move the socio-economic developments of our respective countries.

“The abundant human and material resources that I have seen in Bauchi provide a lot of opportunities, which when exploited, could turn both our economic fortunes around.

“The magnificent international airport, the Yankari Games Reserve, the numerous agricultural and mineral resources had made Bauchi state a gold mine’’, he said.

He said there were over 4,000 Nigerian students studying in Sudan and doing very well in their studies. “We could build on that.”

The ambassador added that Sudan would make every effort to revive the long historical relationship between Nigeria and Sudan.

Responding, Yuguda assured the ambassador of the readiness of the state government to partner with the Sudan government.

He said that such relationship would help to open up areas that could be beneficial to the state and the republic of Sudan.

Yuguda said the state government was already making plans to send some female students to study medicine in Sudan.
