Over 30 percent of the filling stations checked in Lagos cheat their customers while dispensing fuel to them, the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) has said.

The SON Director General, Dr Joseph Odumodu, also said that automotive gas and oil were adulterated with 50 percent kerosene mixture.

He said these while addressing newsmen yesterday in Abuja before a sensitization and enforcement exercise on filling stations in the FCT.

He condemned the action of the Lagos petroleum product dealers, saying “what we found in Lagos was scary.”

He said the exercise was meant to educate Nigerians on how to avoid being shortchanged.

The sensitization and enforcement team of the SON sealed four fuel dispensing pumps in two filling stations in Abuja during the exercise.
