LAGOS (AFP) – The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced on Wednesday they have agreed a rematch with Argentina in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on September 6.
The announcement comes a week after Nigeria recorded their first ever win over the two-time World Cup winners, 4-1 in Abuja, though against a largely second string Argentinian side.
“Yes, we can confirm that there will be an international friendly match between the Nigeria senior team and the senior team of Argentina in Bangladesh in September,” said Musa Amadu, general secretary of the NFF, without explaining the curious venue for the match.
“Every document that will make the match a reality has been signed and we are looking forward to a big game. The two teams will go to Bangladesh with their first teams and all their top stars.”
The match will be played three days after Nigeria’s crucial 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar in Antananarivo.
