on DANIELLE CARTER says she has always dreamt of scoring a winner at Wembley – and to finally do it against Chelsea was “out of this world”.
The England forward cut in from the left wing and beat Hannah Blundell with quick feet before curling into the top corner to secure a 14th Women’s FA Cup win for Arsenal Ladies.
It was Carter’s fourth goal of an impressive season so far, and the 22-year-old was delighted to have played such a key part in Arsenal’s cup triumph.
“It’s out of this world,” she told Arsenal Player. “It’s the first time we’ve won it at Wembley but it’s my fourth time since I’ve been at Arsenal. Each time gets better and better.
“I’ve always dreamt of playing at Wembley but I never thought it would come true. To now win and score on the pitch at Wembley, you can see what it means to all of us so we’re all just buzzing.
LEADING LADIES: Arsenal celebrate
“I don’t think I’ve ever scored a more important goal. I thought when I scored my hat-trick on my England debut it was the best time of my life, but this is definitely up there.
“I’m so proud of everyone involved in the starting XI, the subs, the staff. We’ve all put in a lot of work for this day and I’m so happy it’s a positive result. We knew we had to do better so hopefully this can be a stepping stone for us to do better in the league.”
