Flying Eagles coach,John Obuh is confident that Nigeria will qualify for the Under 20 World Cup in Turkey, despite the setback of losing their first game to Mali.
A solitary goal by Mail, was all that was needed to hand the Fyling Eagles of Nigeria, who are the defending champions, a 1-0 defeat.
“It wasn’t a game we were expecting to lose even though we knew that Mali is equally a strong side but as it is right now; we don’t have any other option than to win the next game,” Obuh told Brila Fm.
Meanwhile, member of the Nigeria Football Federation’s Technical Committee, Paul Bassey, added that the loss to Mali is very disappointing, but noted that they could still bounce back from the defeat.
“It raises a lot of questions from NFF’s point of view as the team was given a lot of support which was enough to guarantee victory but I must say that the result was a bit disappointing but they still have 2 games to play so we must start re-strategizing” Bassey said.
Meanwhile former Super Eagles coach,Christain Chukwu, has said that the Flying Eagles have no reason not to qualify for the World Cup.
“We expect the team to do well just as their seniors because they were given everything. They had intensive preparation, played top class friendlies, so all we demand from them is a good result,” Chukwu
