Few days after former governor of Delta State James Ibori admitted his guilt to money laundering charges against him at the London Court, the Delta State Government is still keeping sealed lips on the issue, saying it would not jump the gun” to discuss a matter which is before Court.
Ibori had been accused of defrauding the State he ruled for eight years to the lane of N 37.5 billion which he admitted to at the London Court after previously pleading not guilty at the Federal High Court in Asaba.
When Daily Trust sought for the position of the state government on the matter, the Commissioner for information Mr. Chike Ogeah said via telephone that saying a word would amount to passing judgment before the court itself.
His words: “The position of government is that we await the completion of the trial when all consequent orders would have been given in the attendant verdict and the subsequent of such orders by the British Judicial Process to a Nigerian court of competent jurisdiction. Then and only then can valid comments be made on this matter as it is important we do not jump the gun as the matter is still at this point in time sub-judice.”
