Nigeria will soon meet its demand of new transformers and maintenance in the country, Director-General, National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Prof. Olusegun Adewoye, has said.

He said this in Okene, Kogi State when he was inspecting facilities and equipment at the temporary and permanent sites of the Power Equipment and Electrical Machinery Development Institute (PEEMADI).

He said the aim of establishing the institute was to meet the high demand of new transformers including their maintenance in the country, saying that concerted efforts must be made towards the realization of set objective, through capacity building.

Prof. Adewoye charged the management of the institute to judiciously utilize the facilities at the permanent site, as well as imbibe the spirit of routine maintenance to enhance service delivery.

He called  on the Federal Government to establish a new directorate of manufacturing and distribution within the agency to enhance training and maintenance of equipment for effective delivery.

The managing director of PEEMADI, Dr. Mohammed Haruna, while welcoming the director general, appealed for his support in staff welfare and promotion that were yet to be implemented, since 2011.

The director general also commissioned the acquisition centre for science technology and skill delivery at Igarra in Edo State.
