Member of the Flying Eagles squad to the Chile ’87 FIFA U-20 World Cup, , Peter Nieketien has stated that majority of the players in the Nigeria Premier League today are just ordinary and not naturally talented.

Speaking exclusively to Inside Out Premier League in house in Lagos, the former ACB and Iwuanyanwu Nationale star said that, the scouting processes of clubs and coaches is borne out of financial interest.

“The set of players we have today in the Premier League are average players in the real sense. Their technique of the game is more or less taught and not innate.

In the eighties, the players then were more skillful and with raw talent as compared to the present ones who are more conscious of Europe and money.”Scouts these days are more interested in money and this has really reduced the emergence of real talented players who do not have the money to give.

In our time, coaches will come to your parents asking for your release and placed under their care. I do not think this obtainable nowadays,” Nieketien said
