Nigeria has formally been re admitted as a full member of the World Archery Federation (WAF).

As you may be aware archery is a long standing medal event from the second Modern Olympic Games held in Paris in 1900 and the main objective of the Nigeria Archery Federation is to develop the game in Nigeria as well as produce Olympic standard Archers by the next Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro Brazil, in 2016.

To this end the Nigeria Archery Federation has started developing facilities in Abeokuta, Abuja, Lagos and Benin City for the training of Archery Coaches and the development of  young Archers using secondary schools and tertiary institutions as take off base.

The Nigeria School Sports Federation (NSSF) and the Nigeria University Games Association will also partner NAFED in this quest to develop archery in Nigeria.

Nigeria Archery Federation has opened email account nafednigeria@yahoo.com for all intending Archers to send  in their registration (Registration is free) while holiday camping in locations across the country will take place during the long summer holidays.

The game of archery is basically a target shooting event using both conventional, manual and electronic bows and arrows to shoot targets in various sizes and distance categories.

The formation of NAFED is another attempt by some patriotic Nigerians to help engage Nigerian youth positively as well as to promote archery as an international sport in Nigeria.
