The new British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Paul Arkwright, has said that the United Kingdom (UK) is deeply involved in diversifying the Nigerian economy and on military and security matters, especially intelligence gathering and reducing corruption.

According to him, “the UK and Nigeria have very strong ties across the board. British Prime Minister, David Cameron, has met President Buhari on several occasions. My Prime Minister has said my mission in Nigeria is to strengthen those ties, and to create a stronger UK and Nigeria partnerships. We are doing that in a number of ways.”
He said that the United Kingdom (UK) is already working with President Buhari on how to diversify the Nigerian economy, adding, “We are also working with the government on military and security issues, particularly on Boko Haram, as well as, on corruption, which is another major aspect of the president’s programme. We are looking at what we can do to help to reduce corruption.”
