The ambassador of Spain to Nigeria, Mr. Alvaro Castillo Aguilar, has urged members of the Nigerian-Spanish Association (NISPA), a non-political and non-profit organisation which aims to promote business, friendship, cultural integration, tourism and mutual understanding between Nigerian and Spain to engage in business investment and relationship with Spain.

Speaking at the bi-monthly business luncheon and meeting of NISPA in Lagos last week, the ambassador, who was represented by the Economic Counselor and Head of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish embassy, Mr. Pablo Martinez Segrelles, said the call became necessary in view of the declining business relationship between the two countries.

The ambassador, who also promised to assist Nigeria in the areas of traffic control, health, energy, agricultural sector and others, said the concern of Nigerians travelling abroad for medical treatment would reduce in the next 10 years after Spain might have trained Nigerian doctors to be qualified in all aspect of treatment and the problems.

He noted that the association’s social and cultural activities are designed not only to bring Nigerians and Spaniards together, but to also afford them a forum to maintain contact with those who have studied in different universities in Spain to keep in touch with each other.

He assured that businessmen would found it easy travelling to Spain, as the government is working towards supporting companies in the country for proper functioning in term of fund, getting visa, educating businessmen, especially in the area of communication for clear exchange of language, so as to stop the need and ignorance for interpretation.
