Land Rover has taken the wraps off its new Evoque Convertible concept ahead of the Geneva motor show.
“The world’s first premium convertible SUV” is how Land Rover is describing its Evoque Convertible concept car, which will make its debut at next week’s Geneva motor show.
Based on the three-door Evoque, the convertible features a fully retractable fabric roof with a roll-over protection system, four seats and a drop down tailgate. Land Rover claims that it has done all of this with minimal changes to the car’s weight and torsional rigidity.
If it follows along the lines of the three and five door Evoques, the convertible would be available with a range of petrol and diesel engines, as well as two- or four-wheel drive.
The concept wears 21in wheels and is finished in grey, while on the inside it has leather seats and features such as Land Rover’s Terrain Response system, surround cameras and park assist.
Speaking about the concept, Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Design Director, said: “This study is not a traditional convertible design execution – instead we have worked with the balance of the Evoque’s lines to retain its distinctive shape and create something that is unique and, we believe, highly desirable.”
