A community leader and publisher of Third Eye newspaper, Chief Akani Aluko, has described the victory of President Goodluck Jonathan in the recent presidential poll as a new dawn for the country.?

He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, for living up to the expectations of Nigerians and ensuring a peaceful conduct of the election across the country.

In a congratulatory message signed and made available to The Nation in Ibadan, Aluko said: ” I congratulate President Jonathan for his resounding victory at the poll to herald a new dawn in Nigeria.” He noted that Nigeria had by the election entered into an era where leaders would emerge?by election and no more by might.?

He however , condemned what he described as “the senseless killing and maiming of innocent Nigerians by uninformed minds,” adding that ?the post-election violence ?witnessed in parts of the country recently was unnecessary.

??”We should all rise to condemn the violence in the northern part of the country. As Nigerians, all of us need to congratulate ourselves on the victory of President Goodluck Jonathan.?It portends that the nation has developed politically and that there is hope for an average Nigerian to get to the top.

” The victory is not for Mr. President alone, God only used him as a symbol of unity and we should be proud of the development,” he said.
