THE Pope’s former butler is likely to be pardoned after a Vatican court sentenced him to 18 months’ jail for leaking confidential documents.
Father Federico Lombardi, a spokesman for the Pope, said yesterday it was “very likely” he would pardon Paolo Gabriele, a father of three – despite having implicitly described the leaks as the work of the devil.
