CHART-TOPPING performer and X Factor star Fleur East will be the special guest at this year’s Christmas Lights switch-on in Coventry.

The singer will be hitting the city centre stage on Wednesday, November 23 to perform and help herald in the season of goodwill.

Fleur is returning to Coventry after wowing thousands of music fans earlier this year at the hugely successful MTV Crashes, which went ahead at the Ricoh Arena.

“I am thrilled to be invited back to Coventry and be helping to switch on the Christmas lights this year,” Fleur said. “I love Christmas and I cannot wait to get on stage, perform and celebrate with everyone who comes along.”

The singer-songwriter rose to fame on the X Factor in 2014, becoming a worldwide sensation with her rendition of Bruno Mars’ ‘Uptown Funk’ – which went to number one on the UK iTunes Store chart while still competing in the show.

Last year she released her album ‘Love, Sax and Flashbacks’ to critical acclaim and achieved gold certification after selling more than 100,000 copies.

Trish Willetts, manager of Coventry Business Improvement District (BID), who are organising the annual event with support from Coventry City Council, is urging everyone to head down between 5pm and 8pm to join in the festive fun and see Fleur turn on the lights at 7.30pm.

“This is going to be a wonderful way to start off festive celebrations this year,” Trish said. “We are so pleased that Fleur East has agreed to come to Coventry and be part of everything that we have going on.

“Fleur is an absolutely amazing talent and such a fantastic performer so to have her come back to the city is a real coup.
“She was a massive hit with the crowds in Coventry earlier this year and I’m sure that she will be once again on November 23.

“We have so much planned for the evening, including plenty of local music and dance talent to complement Fleur’s performance, and it will be the perfect want for everyone to start off the festive season in style.”
