A FATHER and mother duo have created a children’s fashion brand featuring Afro-tastic black characters.

Lela is a unique and inspirational brand, providing character merchandise aimed at children of African and Caribbean descent.

The name Lela is of Swahili origin, meaning black beauty, and the brand hopes to inspire children from all walks of life, encouraging positive self-esteem.

The brand has just launched its new Mosi range of products for boys in order to meet customer demand, and they plan to continue expanding the range.

BAGS OF INSPIRATION: Mosi and Lela

The idea for Lela was born when a proud father of a beautiful newborn baby girl went out looking for something special to buy for his little princess. He came across a few items of merchandise for young girls with animated characters on them, none of which represented his daughter. After making this discovery he went home to his wife and expressed his disappointment. So using her creative flair they set out on a journey to develop a character that young African and Caribbean girls can relate to.
