A panel of speakers will explore the key elements of health systems strengthening, and the importance of involving women in health sector transformation. One of the key questions addressed by the panel will be:

 Can health outcomes improve
without empowering women and girls?

The panel of speakers will include:
Susan Elden, Senior Health Adviser at DFID;
Professor Fatima Adamu, Programme Manager for the DFID-funded, Women for Health Programme, in Nigeria, and Senior Lecturer, Usamanu Dan Fodyo University, Sokoto;
  Henrietta Miers, Senior Associate of WISE Development,
and Dr Diarmuid McClean, Development Attaché, Irish Aid and Director of HPI

The panel will highlight examples from Nigeria and other countries where the context of civil disruption is an important core challenge for DFID and discuss the way forward for
health systems, governance and gender.

The panel discussion will be followed by a drinks reception from 5.30 to 7.30 pm.
