Sokoto State Government has received the report of the 2009-2010 Education Account Survey which was conducted to track funds utilization in the education sector.

Speaking at the presentation of the report, the state Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, said government was committed to ensuring qualitative education in the state.

He commended the ministry of education for the survey and urged it to explore other areas of concern and new innovations in the sector for government’s consideration.

The governor recalled that the education sector was allocated 27 per cent of the state’s budget.

“I want to assure that the gains already derived from the intervention will be followed vigorously and sustained for the development of education in the state in particular and the country in general,” he pledged.

In his address, Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Bello Yusuf Danchadi, asserted that, “I strongly feel that such a survey needs to be conducted annually to assist in tracking funds utilization in the education delivery.”

He noted that the exercise provided a lot of information which would help in boosting the sector.

Danchadi said over the period of about two and half years, for which the project had been in operation, it touched on different areas of the education sector in the state.
