Queen’s Diamond Jubilee: Goodwood gears up for celebrations

Goodwood will be celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a Rule Britannia-themed Breakfast Club on Sunday June 3.

Promised to be a selection of the “very best of British vehicles, both on the ground and in the air”, the Breakfast Club is running as an all-day event rather than its usual morning format.

In the morning a selection of the British vehicles will line up on the Goodwood motor circuit, with visitors encouraged to pre-register their vehicles by emailing cooked@goodwood.com, while in the afternoon the cars will make way for an aircraft pull, with teams from different NATS units pulling a Harvard aircraft along the circuit’s main straight to see who is fastest against the clock.

Aircraft will also take to the skies for an air show (weather permitting) featuring, among other things, the world’s only flying example of a Hurricane Mk11b bomber, as well as a Beagle Chipmunk and Scout from the Army Air Display.

Those who wish to fly their own plane to Goodwood can pre-book an arrival slot by calling the control tower on 01243 755087.

Entry to the Breakfast Club is free. For more information visit the Goodwood website and the Big Pull website.
