Parents To Immunise Their Children

The Kano State Government has ordered all parents in the state to immunise their children against polio so as to ensure the total eradication of the disease from the state.

The Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Ganduje, gave the order on Sunday, while monitoring the exercise at Tsakuwa and Makole in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area.

Ganduje, who is also the Chairman of the task force set up to monitor polio immunisation in the state, said that the immunisation was very crucial, given the status of Kano State as the state with the highest number of polio cases in the country.

Also speaking, Dr Labaran Abubakar, the Commissioner for Health, who is also a member of the task force, said: “It is an obligation for all parents to immunise their children.”

He stressed the need to immunise children against the disease, so as to engender the total eradication of polio from the state.

Alhaji Adamu Gano, the Sole Administrator of Dawakin Kudu Local Government Council, urged the people to support the immunisation exercise.

He also called for the parents’ commitment to ensuring the success of the fight against polio.

Sunday, Feb. 19, is the second day of the Immunisation Plus Days in the first quarter of this year.?
