NFF board member Emeka Inyama has categorically stated that Nigeria has no team yet to represent her in next year’s Olympics in London. The nation’s Olympics team is currently competing in an 8-Nation CAF playoffs in Morocco where three teams will eventually book tickets for the Olympics. The team lost 1-0 to host Morocco putting it in a dicey situation to pick a slot for the games.

The Nigerian side will today face fellow West African side Senegal in a must win clash to put it in contention for a semi final berth. Inyama faults Austin Eguavoen’s claim that the U-23 team was unlucky against Morocco. The Olympic team’s poor showing against Morocco on Saturday did not go down well with members of the executive committee of the NFF. “We told Eguavoen the home truth, the players were bad against Morocco. We told him to forget about the penalty. The players were not good at defence, midfield even up front. We don’t want excuses and he should go and work things out. What Nigerians want is the qualification ticket to the London Olympics. We gave him everything he requested for to prepare the team.”

To this end, Inyama said Keshi, who is in Morocco in an observer capacity, has been asked to join up with Eguavoen’s team of coaches. “We have ordered Keshi to join Eguavoen to coordinate the team and select the players that will prosecute the next match against Senegal.”
